Lately I have been enjoying making videos of some carvings. I decided a tutorial video would be a fun direction to go. This is a longer video, but it covers beginning to end my process and I try to add a lot of tips as I go. I'm attaching the picture of the carving that prompted this. I'm not even sure where it came from. It's a picture I've had for years. I followed it fairly exactly except for the corner details. Those I just made up. I'll also put a drawing of the carving up if anyone wants to download it. I often will just print the image whatever size I want them transfer the drawing using carbon paper. This one I just drew on the wood as I carved, but it is nice to have a reference for the sizes of the different aspects of the carving. These rosette carvings are always a lot of fun. I use them to add some detail to window trim, or lids of boxes I've made. It always adds a very special touch to most any project. I realized as I made the video I really will have to make some videos on learning wood grain and how to sharpen the chisels. I'll try to do that soon. Thank you, and if you have any requests or questions just leave a comment.
